This section is for officers service in Scotland only. From 1 April 2022, the pensions cap will be removed. This means that an officer with more than 25 years’ service & over age 50 would previously have been restricted to 2.25 x their pension as a lump sum if they retired. The removal of the cap means they are now able to commute 25% of their pension multiplied by a commutation factor giving them a larger lump sum.
This may impact on officers with that length of service and age. It would be wise to seek professional financial advice as you could miss out on not completing the 30 years’ service and having additional pension.
Do get in touch with us if you need a bit more information about these services, or any of our other financial planning advice.
