SOLLA (Society of Later Life Advisers)

Jane Bownas has been awarded the Later Life Adviser Award (LLAA), which demonstrates advanced skill sets, recognised across the industry as a benchmark for those specialising in equity release, long term care needs and future planning around inheritance, tax, savings and investment planning.  Jane is also a highly commended member of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA).

What is the Later Life Adviser Award (LLAA)?

For advisers who have taken the extra step to become accredited, this recognises the commitment and endorses the skills needed to provide individuals and their families with the advice and guidance that they will need to make the choices that are most suitable for them when dealing with the complexities of later life planning.

There are 4 key standards that must be reached in order to receive accreditation:

  • Technical knowledge

- Having the necessary qualifications and paperwork to prove professional standing.

  • Working in a supportive environment

- Having the correct support and resources to maintain and provide the best possible, and most up-to-date, service to the customer.

  • Maintenance of competence

- Showing evidence of continual professional development to stay abreast of industry changes.

  • Application of knowledge and ‘soft skills’

- Demonstrate a practical understanding of an elderly person’s needs, mental capacity and financial situation, as well as being able to communicate these often complex and sensitive issues in a clear and understandable way.

What is the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA)?

Founded in 2008 as a not-for-profit organisation, SOLLA is committed to assisting older people, and their families, in finding a trusted and accredited financial adviser who understands the needs of later life.

SOLLA advisers are committed to raising the standards of practice for those offering advice to older people by building relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations, identifying and developing best practices and acting as a source of technical excellence for individuals, their families and other professional bodies.
